Joel A. Holt is an attorney and privacy professional, concentrating his practice in the areas of cannabis, information security and privacy, corporate governance and transactions, and civil litigation. Attorney Holt has a broad range of legal experience, including civil and commercial litigation, appellate advocacy, corporate formation and governance, securities law, commercial and residential real estate transactions, copyright and trademark, corporate transactions including asset and stock purchases, private financing transactions, and wills and trusts.

Attorney Holt graduated from the University of Akron School of Law, magna cum laude, in 2005. Attorney Holt is a prolific writer and has several publications to his credit. Attorney Holt has been a staff attorney for the Ohio Ninth District Court of Appeals, as well as and an adjunct professor at the University of Akron School of Law and Hiram College.
Prior to practicing law, Attorney Holt proudly served with distinction in the United States Air Force. Attorney Holt earned the Air Force Achievement Medal for Meritorious Service and the Humanitarian Service Medal. Attorney Holt received an honorable discharge in 2002 upon his acceptance to law school.
Hailing from the Northern Minnesota shores of Lake Superior, Attorney Holt has resided in Northeast Ohio since 2002, and brings traditional “Minnesota Nice” to his law practice. He is active in civic and church activities and is passionate about social justice issues such as human trafficking, social equality, and criminal justice reform. Attorney Holt is a life-long Green Bay Packers fan, and has adopted the Indians and Cavaliers since moving to Ohio. In his spare time, Attorney Holt plays bass guitar, fishes, plays video games with his kids, and enjoys his family around the firepit.
